RANKINGS

Tracking Progress, One Event at a Time

Rankings help players see how far they’ve come and give them something to aim for, including a spot on the pathway to state championships.

How Points Work

Players earn points at RSPA Junior Circuit events in their age group (10U, 12U, 14U and 18U).

Good to Know

  • Up to 4 matches count at each event.
  • Byes earn 0 points.
  • A walkover counts as a win for the opponent, and a player who doesn’t show up loses the playing point.
  • An event counts only if at least 4 players are in the draw.

Example: An 8-Player Draw

Here’s how points add up in an 8-player draw.

Season Ranking

  • Each player’s best 4 events count toward their season ranking (best 3 for 10U).
  • Ties are broken in this order: most main-draw wins, head-to-head result, most events played, then best single-event total.

How Rankings Lead to State Championships

  • Players need to play at least 2 circuit events in a state to qualify for that state’s championship.
  • The top 8 players in each age group and gender qualify.
  • If a spot opens up, it goes to the next player on the list, in order.
  • The tournament director may give 1–2 wildcards.
